Saint Kabir’s Message Continues to Guide Society and the Nation: Karnataka Governor Shri Thaawarchand Gehlot

Mukhyamantri Bijli Bill Samadhan Yojana to Be Extended by Three Months

Raipur, June 29, 2026/Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai and Karnataka Governor Shri Thaawarchand Gehlot attended the Saint Kabir Mahotsav organised on Kabir Jayanti at Sadguru Kabir Ashram in Sonpairi, Raipur. They sought the blessings of Guru Asang Dev and prayed for peace, prosperity and happiness for the state and the nation.

Guru Asang Dev said that Saint Kabir incarnated to eradicate hypocrisy, social evils and blind rituals from society. Expressing concern over the declining spirit of mutual love and dialogue, he urged people to adopt service, philanthropy, cow protection, plantation and village development as the foundation of life. He said that peace and development has now reached areas once affected by Naxalism. He added that with housing being built for lakhs of low-income families, the state is entering a new era of development.

Addressing the gathering, Karnataka Governor Shri Thaawarchand Gehlot said that Saint Kabir’s message of truth, social harmony and human service continues to guide society and the nation even today. He said that Saint Kabir inspired humanity to rise above caste discrimination and ritualism and follow the path of love, truth and wisdom. Noting the growing social and moral challenges, he said that Kabir’s teachings are more relevant than ever. The Governor also appreciated the efforts of Sonpairi Kabir Ashram in education, cow protection, environmental conservation, organic farming and social welfare, stating that such institutions strengthen nation-building.

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai said that Chhattisgarh is the sacred land of Saint Kabir and his followers. He said that he spent his childhood among the Kabirpanthi community and that Saint Kabir’s teachings have deeply influenced his life. He said that Saint Kabir dedicated his entire life to creating awareness against social evils, untouchability, caste discrimination and blind rituals. He fearlessly upheld the truth and gave society a new direction through his simple yet powerful thoughts. He said that Saint Kabir’s teachings continue to inspire love, brotherhood and social harmony in society.

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai announced a three-month extension of the Mukhya Mantri Bijli Bill Samadhan Yojana to help consumers clear pending dues with surcharge waivers.

Assembly Speaker Dr Raman Singh said that Saint Kabir’s teachings awakened society against hypocrisy, untouchability and social evils. He urged people to adopt Saint Kabir’s message of courteous behaviour, restrained speech and social reform. He stated that the plantation is not merely an act of environmental conservation but also a symbol of responsibility towards future generations.

Union Minister of State Shri Tokhan Sahu said that the Guru shows the path to God. He said that Saint Kabir advocated the path of truth and service while staying away from hypocrisy and ostentation. He added that if Saint Kabir’s teachings are adopted in daily life, both society and the nation can prosper.

Governor Shri Thaawarchand Gehlot, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, Assembly Speaker Dr Raman Singh, and Union Minister of State Shri Tokhan Sahu also planted saplings on the Ashram premises, conveying a message of environmental conservation.

On the occasion, Cabinet Minister Guru Khushwant Saheb, MLA Shri Motilal Sahu, MLA Shri Indra Kumar Sahu, Chairman of the Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board Dr Rampratap Singh, Chairman of the Gau Seva Aayog Shri Visheshar Patel, Chairman of Chhattisgarh State Warehousing Corporation Shri Chandulal Sahu, Chairman of the Minority Commission Shri Amarjeet Chhabra, Dr Krishnamurti Bandhi, Shri Akhilesh Soni, along with a large number of saints, public representatives and Kabirpanthi followers, were present.
