Raipur,

In order to address pending liabilities and meet the state’s demand, the Ministry of Rural Development has sanctioned Rs 1,333 crore for Chhattisgarh under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), providing significant relief to lakhs of rural worker families.

Out of the sanctioned amount, more than Rs 800 crore has been released for wage payments. This amount is being transferred directly to workers’ bank accounts through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system, ensuring transparency.

At present, an amount of Rs 212 crore has already been disbursed as wages into the accounts of workers in the state. The remaining amount will also be transferred in phases shortly, which will strengthen the rural economy and provide stability to workers’ livelihoods.

Under the “Mor Gaon Mor Pani Maha Abhiyan” being implemented in the state, priority is being given to works related to water conservation and livelihood enhancement. Through MGNREGA, works such as livelihood Dabri-ponds, Nava Taria, and other water conservation initiatives are being approved on a large scale to increase water availability in rural areas, improve groundwater levels, and enhance farmers’ income and employment opportunities.

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, the state government is giving top priority to rural development and is continuously working towards generating employment, developing rural infrastructure, and providing financial support to poor and needy families through MGNREGA.

This financial approval from the Government of India will prove to be a significant step towards accelerating rural development in Chhattisgarh and improving the standard of living of workers.
