Chief Minister listens to villagers from a traditional cot, warns errant officials, urges women to become ‘Crorepati Didis’

Raipur, In a rare and deeply human moment of grassroots governance under the ongoing Sushasan Tihar, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai on Saturday held interaction with people in Nimdha village of Marwahi development block, seated on a traditional cot beneath the shade of a mango tree. Far removed from formal conference halls and administrative chambers, Chief Minister engaged directly with villagers, listened to their concerns and sought firsthand feedback on the actual implementation of government schemes at the ground level. He held detailed discussions on essential public services, including electricity, drinking water, ration distribution, roads, healthcare, education and housing.

Addressing the gathering, Shri Sai said the state-wide Sushasan Tihar, being observed from May 1 to June 10, is aimed at ensuring that governance reaches people at their doorsteps. He said complaints that could be resolved immediately were being addressed on the spot, while all other issues would be resolved within a fixed timeline.

During the chaupal, villagers along with Marwahi MLA Shri Pranav Kumar Marpachchi demanded the establishment of a nursing college in the district, a mini stadium in Nimdha village and a large community Mangal Bhavan for all sections of society. Respecting public sentiment, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai immediately approved and announced all three demands.

When villagers raised concerns over irregular electricity supply, Shri Sai sought information from officials on the spot and directed them to ensure a permanent solution. He assured residents that necessary measures to strengthen the power supply system would be undertaken at the earliest.

A complaint related to the Revenue Department also surfaced during the interaction, prompting Chief Minister to issue a stern warning to the concerned revenue inspectors. He categorically directed officials to resolve public grievances in a timely manner or face strict action. His strong message once again underscored the government’s emphasis on accountability and responsive governance.

Interacting with women associated with self-help groups and Lakhpati Didis, Chief Minister Shri Sai encouraged them to scale new heights of financial empowerment. He said that the aspiration should now go beyond becoming Lakhpati Didis to emerging as Crorepati Didis. Women informed him that the financial aid received under Mahtari Vandan Yojana is significantly supporting household expenses, children’s education and other family needs.

Shri Sai stated that the 28th instalment of the Mahtari Vandan Yojana had recently been transferred to the accounts of beneficiaries across the state, benefiting women in Nimdha village and the entire district alike. He further said that approval for 18 lakh Pradhan Mantri Awas houses had been granted by the state government, leading to a major expansion of housing facilities in rural areas.

Chief Minister Shri Sai also announced that a dedicated CM Helpline would soon be launched in the state, enabling citizens to register complaints through a toll-free number, email and WhatsApp. He said a special mechanism was being developed to ensure prompt and time-bound redressal of grievances.
